Team

The people you’ll work with.

Senior on every engagement. These are the directors, engineering leads and developers who design, run and answer for our clients’ networks. The people you meet are the people doing the work, and they have usually seen your problem before.

Leadership

Directors who are still hands-on. Every design we deliver is overseen by one of them.

Nick Hilliard

Director & co-founder

A pioneer of the Irish internet, Nick has specialised in IP backbone design and implementation since 1995. He is the chief technical officer of INEX, the internet exchange for the island of Ireland, and is actively involved with RIPE and the IETF, helping to develop European IP addressing policy and internet technical standards.

He is a frequent speaker at RIPE, the IETF, Euro-IX, UKNOF, APRICOT, AfPIF and ISOC workshops, on topics from BGP hygiene and RPKI to IXP automation, and has presented to ComReg and BEREC on internet resilience and measurement. He co-authored RFC 6666, which defines a discard prefix for IPv6.

Nick oversees and validates all of our infrastructure designs, and leads our large-scale and complex network projects.

Barry O’Donovan

Director & co-founder

B.Sc. (Hons), ACA, CPA, CITP, DipCorpGov

Barry has spent his career designing, building and running critical network and server infrastructure, for everyone from small service providers to national ISPs. He is part of INEX’s management and operations teams, a board member and treasurer of Euro-IX, and the project manager and lead developer of IXP Manager.

He speaks regularly at RIPE, Euro-IX, UKNOF, APRICOT and the Global Peering Forum, most recently on network resilience, NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act.

He specialises in systems administration and automation, VoIP and telecoms billing, and leads Island Bridge Billing Systems. He also advises clients on billing systems, financial modelling, governance, risk and strategy.

Barry holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computing and Mathematics from the University of Galway. He is a Chartered Accountant (ACA, CPA), a Chartered IT Professional (CITP), and holds a Diploma in Corporate Governance, which means he’s as comfortable in front of an audit committee as in a router’s config.

Most of our work starts over a coffee.

Bring us the network problem, the stalled project or the audit finding. We’ll tell you what we’d do about it, and whether we’re the right people to help. The first conversation costs you nothing but an hour.
