An internet exchange is where a city’s or a country’s networks meet. When it works, nobody notices. When it doesn’t, everyone does.
We provide the operations team for INEX, the internet exchange for the island of Ireland, which connects around 110 networks across seven points of presence. We also lead the development of IXP Manager, a project which INEX owns and stewards for the good of the internet and which and now runs more than 270 exchanges around the world. We also built and run NCL-IX, the Newcastle Internet Exchange, for Stellium, and one of our directors sits on the board of Euro-IX, the European association of IXPs.
How we help IXPs
- New exchanges: technical design, site and fabric selection, route servers, member onboarding and operating procedures. We have advised exchanges in Ireland, across Europe, Africa and the US.
- Established exchanges: fabric upgrades and migrations, route-server filtering and RPKI, automation, monitoring and member portals.
- IXP Manager: deployment, customisation, upgrades and integration with your automation platform.
- Governance and resilience: ISO 27001, NIS2 obligations for IXPs as digital infrastructure, incident response and business continuity.
- Pro bono: we support IXP development in emerging markets through community organisations.
